From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser. Simple, basic
recipe for Strawberry Shortcake. I make one large bisuit in
a round cake pan, then cut it into wedges, for serving.
You may also like Joan's Shortcake.
Cut up: Strawberries (about 6 c)
Sprinkle with: 1 c sugar
Gently toss to coat.
Let stand 1 hour.
2 c flour
2 Tbsp sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening
1 c milk
Pat into pan.
Bake @ 450, 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
Good warm or cold.
Cut a wedge of shortcake, split.
Fill & top with strawberries.
Top with sweetened whipped cream or Cool Whip.
Makes 8 servings
