From the kitchen of Jaime Barkwell.  They taste great
with mashed potatoes.  This was in the first Family
Cookbook.
Mix together:
1 lb ground beef
3 Holland Rusk, crumbled*
salt & pepper
1 egg

Roll into large meatballs
(approximately size of small apple)
Brown meatballs in margarine.
Add brown gravy mix & water.
Cover & simmer until cooked through.

* May substitute rusks with bread crumbs
3 Holland Rusk= 3/4 c bread crumbs

What is Holland Rusk?
Holland Rusk comes in a cylinder shaped package.
In Holland it's extremely common.  My family calls it by
the Dutch name but on the American package it says
Holland Rusk.  They are round toast type things that
you crumble up.  They are lighter than bread crumbs.
"Never grow a wishbone where your
backbone ought to be."
