From the kitchen of Kay Putano. Oatmeal bars with
a date filling.
Bars:
Combine:
1 1/2 c flour
1 3/4 c oatmeal
1 c margarine, melted
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 c brown sugar
Spread half of dough in a pan.

Filling:
1 c water
1 c sugar
1 c dates
Cook like pudding, until thick.
Cool.
Stir in:
1 tsp vanilla
Spread filling over dough.
Top filling with remaining dough.

Bake @ 350 for 30 minutes
