From the kitchen of Ann Marie Barkwell. Simply flavored with
olive oil, garlic, thyme, salt, pepper & a touch of lemon. Great
side for any meat entree.
In a large frying pan:
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic, crushed
4 c fresh OR 1 (16oz) bag frozen green beans
Sauté to sear beans, stirring frequently so they don't burn.
(for fresh beans) 2 c cold water OR
(for frozen beans) 1 c cold water
Bring to a boil. Cover.
Reduce heat to med-low.
Simmer 20-30 minutes OR
until beans are tender when pierced with tip of knife.
Add more water if needed.
Frozen beans take half the time.
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp salt or salt substitute
fresh ground black pepper, to taste
Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Toss & serve.
I love these green beans!
My favorite way to eat them
is with a baked potato.
These were done in just 15
minutes. I skip the lemon.
