From the kitchen of Connie Putano. These pan cookies
start with a walnut crust. The filling is simply a jar of apple
jelly & a jar of lekvar. Reserved crust is then latticed on top.
2 sticks butter
2 c confectioner sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
2 c flour
2 c ground walnuts
Reserve an orange sized portion of dough for lattice. Cover
& place in refrigerator.
Spread remaining dough into a 16x12 raised cookie sheet.
1 12 oz jar apple jelly
1 17 oz jar lekvar
Spread filling over dough.
The dough is very sticky & hard to work with. To make
lattice work, use 2 spoons to drop small mounds of reserved
dough over filling.
Bake @ 350, 15-20 minutes.
Cut into bars.
Sprinkle with confectioner sugar before serving.
