From the kitchen of Kay Putano. These meatballs are made
with ground steak, rice and buttermilk and served in gravy.
In a medium size bowl mix together:
1 lb ground round steak
3/4 c precooked rice
1/4 c bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/3 c buttermilk (or sweet milk)
Shape into meatballs about the size of walnuts.

Melt in a large skillet:
1 tsp butter
Brown meatballs in the butter.
Add:
1 c water
Cover skillet.
Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes
or until rice is tender and meat is cooked.
Remove from skillet.

In a small bowl, mix:
1 c buttermilk
1 Tbsp flour
Stir until lit forms a smooth paste.
Stir into skillet drippings.
Add:
1/2 tsp brown sauce for gravy
Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Return meatballs to gravy, heat until warm.
Serve with gravy.
