Orange Nut Roll

What sets this nut roll apart is the addition of orange both in the filling & glaze.


Filling:Stir together:1/2 c lukewarm milk1 c sugarAdd:1 eggrind of 1 orange1 lb walnuts, groundSet aside.
Dough:In a bowl:1 c lukewarm milk1 package dry yeastMix & let stand.Set aside.
In another bowl,
mix as you would a pie crustby hand, see video link below,or with a food processor:4 c flour1/2 c sugar1 c butter, cold, cubedAdd:2 eggs, beatenmilk/ yeast mixtureThis makes a very soft dough.Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
Roll dough to 1/4" thick.Spread with filling.Roll like a jelly roll.Place on ungreased cookie sheet.Let raise 15 minutes.Bake @ 325, 35-40 minutes.
Glaze:juice of 1 orange1/2 c confectioner sugarDrizzle over nut roll.
It looks nice with a few crushed nuts on top.
