Biscotti – Phyllis’

From the kitchen of Philamina “Phyllis” DiMenna

In a large bowl, mix together:

1/2 c butter, softened (1 stick)

3/4 c sugar

2 eggs

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp anise seed

In another bowl, whisk together:

2 c flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

Slowly add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.

Optional, add:

1 c chocolate chips/ slivered almonds/ pine nuts

Shape dough into a log.

Bake @ 350, 25-30 minutes.

Cut.

Bake each side 5 minutes.

NOTES

  • These were a staple in our house…. but almost always just plain. They’d try “new things” every once in a while like adding chocolate chips, slivered almonds or pine nuts… but 99% of the weekly recipe was just plain! – Carla
