From the kitchen of Mabel Knewasser
Filling:
Stir together:
1/2 c lukewarm milk
1 c sugar
Add:
1 egg
rind of 1 orange
1 lb walnuts, ground
Set aside.
Dough:
In a bowl:
1 c lukewarm milk
1 package dry yeast
Mix & let stand. Set aside.
In another bowl or food processor:
4 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1 c butter, cold, cubed
Add:
2 eggs, beaten
milk/ yeast mixture
This makes a very soft dough.
Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
Roll dough to 1/4″ thick.
Spread with filling.
Roll like a jelly roll.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Let raise 15 minutes.
Bake @ 325, 35-40 minutes.
Glaze:
juice of 1 orange
1/2 c confectioner sugar
Drizzle over nut roll.
It looks nice with a few crushed nuts on top.
