Campers Bean Stew

From the kitchen of Joyce Lohman

1 lb bacon

2 medium onions, chopped

2 lb lean hamburger

2 cans pork & beans (15 oz each)

1 can red kidney beans, drained

1 can butter beans, drained

1/2 c brown sugar

1 c ketchup

1 Tbsp liquid smoke

salt & pepper to taste

Fry bacon. Drain, keeping 1/2 c fat.

Fry onions in the bacon fat.

In 2nd frying pan brown & drain hamburger.

Combine hamburger & undrained onion mixture in crockpot.

Crumble up bacon & add to hamburger mixture.

Add remaining ingredients to crockpot.

Stir well.

NOTES

  • This crockpot stew is good cooked for a long or short time.
