Red Velvet Cookies

From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser

Cream:

1/2 c butter

1/4 c crisco

1 c sugar

1/2 c brown sugar

Add:

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla

1 Tbsp milk

1 tsp red food coloring

Add:

2 1/2 c flour

3 Tbsp cocoa

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

Roll into walnut sized balls.

Place on a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment.

Bake @ 375 for 10-11 minutes.

Let set 2 minutes before moving.

Cool completely before frosting.

Frost with Cookie Frosting or coat with white chocolate.

Top with sprinkles.

Makes 40 cookies.

NOTES

  • Variation: add white chocolate chips.
  • Try replacing milk with greek yogurt for more tangy flavor.
