From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser
Cut up:
Strawberries (about 6 c)
Sprinkle with:
1 c sugar
Gently toss to coat.
Let stand 1 hour.
Shortcake Biscuits:
2 c flour
2 Tbsp sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening
1 c milk
Pat into pan.
Bake @ 450, 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
Good warm or cold.
Cut a wedge of shortcake, split.
Fill & top with strawberries.
Optional: a scoop of vanilla ice cream
Top with sweetened whipped cream or Cool Whip.
Makes 8 servings
NOTES
- While living in Florida, near the strawberry capital of Plant City, we had shortcake with soft serve vanilla ice cream. We loved it. – Stephanie
